I’m a huge tablet user… I have a SurfaceRT (my main work tablet), an iPad, have gotten an Android tablet for my wife’s Christmas present (shhhh….. it’s a secret, so don’t tell anyone), and use them incredibly often. I’m also a notebook (what used to be laptop) user, with a HP ProBook 6560b, and have used as my main machines a Macbook Pro (loved it), a ThinkPad, something from Acer… lots from HP…etc. And I have found that, surprise, surprise, they each have their uses.
I’ve been following Ubuntu (well known for it’s Linux distribution) for a while – I have a Live USB of it (so that I can run Ubuntu on my computer without worrying about Windows) and I actually like the way they see the desktop in Unity. Unity has been a bone of contention for many Linux lovers – “Why add another user interface paradigm?” they cried…
Now we know. Canonical (parent company of Ubuntu) is crowd-funding their new mobile phone, Ubuntu Edge, over at Indiegogo. It looks great, and it may just change the world (or at least the mobile world)!
This is not about play based learning… No, this is all about Google and its app store – Google Play. At Google I/O (their major conference), Google announced a special Play Store for K-12 education.
